Trustee (Secretary)

This role requires a 12 month commitment. There will be 4 meetings per years held in the evening.
SenTalk - is a dynamic local charity dedicated to supporting children and young people with high functioning autism and attention deficit disorder living in South London. The organisation aims to support the whole family, providing training and education for parents and carers, as well as pastoral care and accessible drop-in support sessions in a range of therapeutic areas. Sen Talk also works to advocate for young individuals living with ASD or ADHD diagnosis, especially those attending mainstream education, and those not accessing sufficient support. The charity aims to empower individuals but also to raise awareness around higher functioning disabilities, which are often misunderstood.

SenTalk is looking for a Secretary for their Board of Trustees. This role plays a pivotal part in the formation of the board. The Secretary will work closely with the Chair of the Board to organise trustee meetings throughout the year, and be able to provide minutes and reports effiently and

Conduct a review of charity's policies and governance documents

10-15 hours over 2 months
Wandsworth Mediation Service - provides mediation services to those in conflict in our community. Mediation is an opportunity to come together, discuss issues, and arrive at agreed solutions, with the help of trained volunteer mediators. Community mediations include neighbour disputes, inter-generational (eg between children living with their parents) and family disputes (eg access to children). Set up in 2004, Wandsworth Mediation Services has helped hundreds of people reach peaceful agreements with their neighbours and families. The organisation also runs conflict awareness courses in the community eg for housing officers and teachers and in schools they teach students how to mediate conflicts giving them life changing skills to help them resolve conflict around them.

Wandsworth Mediation Service is updating their policies and they are looking for legal advice to ensure that new drafts comply with current legislation for their contractors and volunteers. As the organisation expands and increases its number of mediators, it is crucial to have the right policies

Generate is looking for a Treasurer to join their Board of Trustees. This role will support and advise the Chief Executive and be a pro-active positive board member. This role will also assist in developing the Finance Manager to ensure that the finances are well managed and fit for purpose.

Refugee mentoring programme administrator

4-6 hours per week for at least 6 months
Love to Learn - works with children and young people from refugee backgrouds and their families and carers. They provide educational advocacy and advice, learning support, clubs and workshops, and supported referrals in order to raise educational aspiration and achievement. From their experience of running this programme for many years, they know that mentors change lives. In many families of children from refguee background there are barriers to acheiveing their potential at school, including the language barrier, different education systems, being newly arrived in the county, issues with foster carers or teachers. Mentors work to bridge the gap between school and home so that children and young people can learn, and bring fun and outside opportunities and advise for young people.

Develop a furniture donation scheme for refugees

Wandsworth Welcomes Refugees - is a network of organisations working with and supporting refugees and individuals who would like to welcome refugees to Wandsworth. The group aims to support foster carers and landlords to welcome refugees to Wandsworth, to challenge negative stereotypes and advocate to local councillors and MPs. WWR has an active coordinating group and growing membership with 4 defined working groups.

Wandsworth Voluntary Sector Co-ordination Project - is a two-year pilot that aims to help the voluntary section be stronger and better connected and acts as a link between the wider sector and both the Local Authority and local Clinical Commissioning Group CCG (NHS). The project aims to help the voluntary sector evidence what it can do to keep people healthy, both physically and mentally, as well as help the CCG identify where it might invest most effectively in the sector. Create a user-friendly social media strategy for this newly formed organisation. Develop key messages and guidelines on how often and what to post on social media to raise the profile of the organisation.

Provide homework support to young people from refugee backgrounds

One hour a week, usually in the early evenings for a minimum of 6 months.

Battersea Summer Scheme - organises trips, outings and events for young people with limited opportunities, especially those living in the poorer and most disadvantaged areas of Battersea and Balham. Battersea Summer Scheme is the principle project of the Battersea Crime Prevention Panel, an organisation that aims to make Battersea and Balham a better and safer place to live, work and play.

Help the organisation increase their network and income by developing an approach to relationship building with high net worth individuals. Conduct desk research, create profiles, develop a strategy to get to know them, and identify the best way to ask them to get involved.

Create a quarterly newsletter

Raise funds for a youth summer sports programme

Battersea Summer Scheme (BSS) - organises trips, outings and events for young people with limited opportunities, especially those living in the poorer and most disadvantaged areas of Battersea and Balham, is the principle project of the Battersea Crime Prevention Panel. This organisation aims to make Battersea and Balham a better and safer place to live, work and play.

Work closely with the organisation's director to raise funds from charitable trusts, foundations, lottery for local youth programmes. Conduct online research and write proposals.

Spearhead a corporate relationships campaign

Flexible over 4 months (to be negotiated with organisation)
Citizens Advice Wandsworth - provides information, advice and support to over 8000 local people a year to enable them to manage their affairs and live independent and resilient lives.

Assist with designing and implementing a corporate relationships campaign to generate private sector income, service opportunities or benefits. Work closely with CEO to develop messaging and identify and develop positive relationships with relevant and interested corporates.

Create a community directory

Flexible over 3-6 months (to be negotiated with organisation)

South West London Law Centre (SWLLC) - provides legal advice and assistance in the social welfare law fields of debt, employment, immigration, housing and welfare rights.

Create a video to promote SWLLC's work including snippets of advice they provide.
