Wandsworth Mediation Service - provides mediation services to those in conflict in our community. Mediation is an opportunity to come together, discuss issues, and arrive at agreed solutions, with the help of trained volunteer mediators. Community mediations include neighbour disputes, inter-generational (eg between children living with their parents) and family disputes (eg access to children). Set up in 2004, Wandsworth Mediation Services has helped hundreds of people reach peaceful agreements with their neighbours and families. The organisation also runs conflict awareness courses in the community eg for housing officers and teachers and in schools they teach students how to mediate conflicts giving them life changing skills to help them resolve conflict around them.
Wandsworth Mediation Service is updating their policies and they are looking for legal advice to ensure that new drafts comply with current legislation for their contractors and volunteers. As the organisation expands and increases its number of mediators, it is crucial to have the right policies and procedures in place to maintain their high standards and excellent reputation. They would also welcome a review of their constitutional documents to ensure that they continue to be fit for purpose in light of the proposed expansion of the organisation's work within the borough.
We're looking for someone with knowledge of employment and charity law as well as some basic company law. The organisation would consider a team of up to 2 lawyers working on this.
